reflections on year one, and what's coming in 2026
Dear Reader,
As we step into 2026, I find myself reflecting, both deeply and gratefully, on what this first year of Palomino County has meant.
When we launched Volume One, we did so with equal parts conviction and curiosity: conviction that there was space for a publication rooted in beauty, heritage, and thoughtful storytelling, and curiosity about whether others were longing for the same thing. The response answered that question resoundingly.
From the very beginning, readers understood what we were trying to build. Palomino County wasn’t meant to chase trends or shout for attention—it was designed to linger. To be held. To live on coffee tables and bedside stacks. To feel collected rather than consumed. Hearing from readers that the magazine felt “rich,” “elegant,” and worthy of revisiting again and again affirmed not just our aesthetic choices, but our deeper editorial values.
One of the greatest honors of this first year has been the encouragement from people whose work we’ve admired for years, if not decades. Former Southern Living travel editor Carolanne Roberts called Volume One a “delightful read” with a “sophisticated look,” noting that she’s already looking forward to each issue to come. Westerly USA founder Dena DePompa told us it has “everything I look for,” praising the matte pages that make it feel like a true coffee table book. And my personal founder crush, New Orleans artist and entrepreneur Alexa Pulitzer, shared that the publication is “beautifully conceived and executed, both in content and design,” expressing confidence in what lies ahead.
These words are not taken lightly. They are felt, carried, and motivating—especially since this is an up before dawn and work far past dusk endeavor at the moment!
Most of all, I’m grateful for our readers: those who sent handwritten notes of praise, shared issues with friends, and welcomed Palomino County into their homes. Your excitement has shaped our confidence and sharpened our sense of responsibility to keep raising the bar.
Looking ahead, we’re thrilled to share that Volume Two will arrive in March 2026, followed by Volume Three in September. Each will continue to expand our vision—celebrating American places, people, traditions, and the art of living well—while staying true to the soul of what we began.
Thank you for believing in this from the start. We’re just getting warmed up.
Warmly,
Rebekah
