Patchwork, Personality, and the Joy of Carrying Your Story

Champagne Hippie’s vintage totes and patches are a reminder that style should feel personal

Some brands are built in boardrooms. Champagne Hippie was built in a basement—right next to a Pilates reformer, with podcasts humming in the background and intention stitched into every detail. Founded in 2023 by Allison Meyer, Champagne Hippie is a New Hampshire–based lifestyle brand that blends soulful design, sustainability, and storytelling into pieces meant to be lived with, not locked away.
Allison didn’t set out to start a brand. She was simply looking for a rainbow gemstone necklace that felt right, joyful, personal, and grounded. When she couldn’t find one, she taught herself how to hand-knot gemstones on silk cord and made it herself. That first necklace was crafted for her best friend, Brenda. What began as a heartfelt gift quickly became something more. Brenda encouraged Allison to share her work beyond their friendship, planting the seed for Champagne Hippie to grow. One necklace turned into encouragement. Encouragement turned into a spark. Champagne Hippie was born.

But while jewelry lit the match, it was the bags that caught fire in the best way. Champagne Hippie’s one-of-a-kind boat totes are the heart of the brand. Built on vintage L.L. Bean Boat and Totes, each bag starts with history already stitched in. Allison then layers on personality, travel, humor, and memory using a mix of vintage state souvenir patches and modern designs. Every tote is custom. Every tote tells a story. No two are even close to the same.
The process is part art, part intuition, and part really good listening. Allison starts by getting a feel for her customer. Where they have been. What they love. What makes them laugh. From there, she builds the bag patch by patch, letting the design evolve naturally. Podcasts play in the background. Creativity flows. A classic American bag becomes something deeply personal.
Her design philosophy is refreshingly real. As a single mom, Allison believes things should be lived in, not babied. These totes are meant for beach days, road trips, grocery runs, and summer chaos. They are sturdy, playful, and full of soul. Coastal American style, Champagne Hippie style, is easy, authentic, and quietly confident. Nothing fussy. Nothing forced. Just really good energy.
And people feel it.
Customers consistently tell Allison that their bags feel joyful, thoughtful, and completely their own. The details matter. The experience matters. Every order arrives with a handwritten note from Allison herself, wishing the owner joy every time they carry their tote. That human touch is not branding. It is who she is.

One of her favorite moments came during a summer trip to Nantucket with her boys. Allison posted photos of her bags casually, not thinking twice. Orders poured in. What started as a passion project suddenly felt very real. Proof that when you make something with heart, people notice.
Looking ahead, Champagne Hippie is just getting warmed up. Allison is expanding her bag offerings and dreaming up even more unexpected patchwork projects. She is bringing back her hand-knotted gemstone necklaces after selling out last year. She is planning patch bar pop-ups with boutiques throughout New England and beyond. She is even dreaming up creative twists on classic luxury bags because why not?
Right now, she is craving warmth, sunshine, and maybe a Malibu reset. But wherever she goes next, Champagne Hippie will keep doing what it does best. Turning everyday classics into joyful, meaningful pieces that remind you life is meant to be carried with intention and a little bit of fun. No two bags are alike, and honestly, neither are you.
