If the Gala itself was a celebration, the red carpet was its opening act—and a masterclass in personal style. Some of my personal favorites...
Scooter Ray Minyard claimed Best Custom Menswear in a “Run for the Roses” jacket that refused to whisper. Rhinestone embellishments caught the light with every step, but it was the unexpected interior lining—printed with Dolly Parton artwork—that turned the look into a conversation piece. It was bold, irreverent, and entirely on-theme.
Gina Torres embodied effortless power in a statuesque gown that proved simplicity can still command a room. Her jewelry, sourced from Venice, added depth and story. Each piece carried its own history, layered seamlessly into a look that felt both global and deeply personal.
Country legend Lorrie Morgan delivered what could only be described as “Lorrie in Wonderland.” Her powder blue, off-the-shoulder chiffon gown floated with movement, equal parts whimsical and refined. Paired with matching shoes, it was a look that balanced fantasy with polish—a rare feat on any carpet.
Meanwhile, Michael Eaves opted for understated elegance in a sateen-finished suit. A soft pocket square with delicate lace detail added just enough texture, while patent leather shoes and a luxury timepiece completed the ensemble. Paired with perfectly matched earrings, the look was equal parts classic and commanding—impossible not to award this swoon-worthy moment its flowers.
Our mystery man (and Riley Green ringer), who we shall call “red carpet cowboy,” brought the country, but made it black tie. This standout look blended classic red carpet tailoring with a ten-gallon hat, proving the two worlds can coexist beautifully. A sharp dinner jacket and pocket square elevated the ensemble, striking that elusive balance—just enough country, with a whole lot of gala.
Together, these standout moments defined a red carpet that felt less about trends and more about individuality—each look telling its own story, each guest contributing to the larger narrative of a night that continues to set the tone for Derby weekend.
